Pair Antique Brass Courting Candlesticks, Circa 1850
In the 1600s to the 1800s courting candlesticks were used by the man of the home to set boundaries for his daughter. When a suitor came to call the candles were lit for the couple to sit and converse. As the candles burned down it indicated to the suitor that it was time to leave. This amazing brass set has the movable sliders in tact. Slight denting on the base of the candlesticks is shown in the pictures. Otherwise great antique condition. Grab a piece of history and add these to your home decor for a traditional look. Mixes well with other design styles as well.
