Vintage Oyster Plate, Pink and Green Floral, Gold Trim

The oyster plate was first used during the Victorian age (1810-1870) when the oyster on the half shell first became a delicacy. The plates were quite intricate, very light weight and beautifully decorated. It was not uncommon for hostesses to outdo themselves with gorgeous plates filled with the half shell oysters.

This beauty has light pink and white wells with a darker pink and green, hand painted, floral design. Perfect to hang on a plate or gallery wall. Metal pieces have been added to the back for easy display. Great vintage condition.
