Vintage Framed Silhouette, Courting Scene, Victorian, Scherenschnitte

Vintage Framed Silhouette, Courting Scene Victorian, Scherenschnitte

Papercut art, also called papercutting, or Scherenschnitte in German and decoupage in French, is the art of paper designs. Its origins trace back to the Han Dynasty in Northern China in the 4th century AD, after Chinese official Cai Lun invented paper in 105 AD.

This detailed silhouette with black paper has a lovely Victorian courting scene. There is some very slight staining on the top corners of the artwork. It is in a glass front black and gold frame. Great to display with a collection.
